Recently, I’ve been dressing a little more spring/ summer in hope that it would miraculously entice the weather to change, maybe, no? Am I mad? Probably! Anyway, this western inspired look that I love is probably one of my favourite looks in my wardrobe at the moment.
Let's take a moment to appreciate this cow print skirt from Asos. I always think that animal print is kinda kitsch and with cow print i think it gives off, ‘I’m a glamorous, trying to make it big’ country singer vibes, something you’d see Dolly Parton in. Then teamed up with this incredible Johnny Cash tassel t-shirt, its a match made in heaven. I’ve added pops of colour with the cardigan, and followed through the western inspiration with the star print Stella’s.
So here is to dreaming of warmer days as I’m currently sitting on my sofa, on the early eve on a sunday, with my blanket, a sausage dog and the heat of my laptop keeping me warm. I keep scrolling through photos of warmer days whilst I occasionally have a sniffle or a cough, from this never ending, forever changing into something else cold. All I want from life right now is to be warm, have longer days and feel that optimistic buzz you get from the happy seasons.
To help ease the pain of winter, I thought I would write up 5 things that I am looking forward to, or planning for when it eventually gets to spring summer. You can also tell I’m keen from this western inspired outfit choice.
1 - Have a fuck tonne of garden parties
I love throwing a good party, and when you have garden space, its pretty perfect. All of which are going to be themed. So far I the themes are; Grease - for Josie’s birthday, Jimmy buffet - think Hawaiian shirts, Margaritas and cheese burgers (in paradise). Pirate party - I remember going to one when I was about 6 years old and it was insane. Lastly, a Paul Simon appreciation party, because why not, he’s a legend.
2 - Go to more festivals
Last year I only managed to visit Download, Coachella and V festival. Usually I get a good amount in, especially when playing with the band. This year I have been scanning the lineups that have been realised, some are amazing, some not so, but either way I still want to go for the experience. I wasn’t completely sold by the current Latitude festival line up realise, but as its only down the road and I always have a good time I want to go. Download again, my fave, is a definite. Then there’s a few I’ve seen abroad such as Primavera Sound in Barcelona that I’m tempted by, not to mention also Coachella (but that’s very unlikely this year).
3 - Book a girls holiday
I have never really, truly, madly, deeply been on a girls holiday. I’ve done press trips with bloggers girls to nice places and I went on my hen do. But I mean, a week away, no work obligations to somewhere all inclusive where we can drink, eat, swim and just be cheeky. Somewhere like Greece or Italy, or maybe even a bit of Ibiza!
4 - Go on tour
Christ on a bike I miss music. Luckily though, my band have finally woken up from their big ‘lets not make music’ nap and we’re finally in the motion of writing completely new music, with a new band name, with some new members, so I’m hoping that there’ll be potentially some little tour opportunities, or at least a bunch of gigs at least. I love tour so much, a week out of reality, just driving around the country playing shows, with no concept of time or what day it is, with all your best buddies.
5 - Get more recreational
I want to get into more active activities that aren’t the gym or bootcamp. So far I am booked in to do The Wolf Run, which is a 6k run that is laden with obstacles and lots of mud. Luckily it’s in June, so won’t be too cold. But other than that, I’m hoping to get the bike out more, maybe sign up to some fun classes (I really want to dance OR try kickboxing again). Exercise is fun, but I want to try doing things that moves my body as a result of doing something fun.
So there we have it, 5 things that I aim to do this summer, I know its a little way off, but there’s nothing wrong with planning and day dreaming. Would love to know in the comments your plans for the summer too!
