A couple of months ago, just after I got back from my honeymoon when I was getting back into the swing of things, I had a mini ‘work life crisis’. Nothing dramatic, it’s just I had time to clear my head and think about what I was doing, and nothing was changing.
I was pretty happy with my videos because Im always working on them and changing them up, but I needed something else to focus on, another outlet that I was proud of. My blog out of everything I do, was the thing that I could safely say was my downfall. I wasn’t proud of it and I barely posted on it. I thought it was pretty pointless. But yet I still loved writing, taking photos and documenting life.
I didn’t want to give up on it completely, so thats why I decided to make a change. I contacted Cat at Gatto web who’s work I admired, to help me with a serious rebrand.
What I disliked about my blog was mainly the fact that it was called Helen Anderson. I mean, its not particularly inviting. If I didn’t know me, I wouldn’t be inclined to read about somebodies ramblings I didn’t know. So although my blog is essentially about my personal style, travels and thoughts of life, I wanted to open it up to anyone, thats were the Anderz Approach came from. The Anderz Approach still has part of my name, but it could also potentially be anything.
The Anderz approach is what it says on the tin. Its an approach to life the Anderz way, me, the way I see it. It’s about being unique, confident, bold and positive. It celebrates love for personal style, music and unfiltered talks about real life. The Anderz Approach is a new way to express myself that encapsulates everything that I’m about, but enables newcomers to come and enjoy without the initial need to know who ‘Helen Anderson’ is.
Contradicting this need to make it accessible, I know that many of my blogger friends do very well with their blog name being, well their name. But it’s usually the gals that spend way more time on their blog. They’ve already nailed it. I however wanted a fresh start, I wanted to create something new, but also something that wasn’t heavily dependent on my name.
I was grateful for Cats help throughout the whole process, we initially met over email, then had various Skype calls detailing what exactly I wanted, but if I’m honest, it didn’t take much explaining, as Cat knew what I was about from the word go. She created so perfectly what was going on in my head. I’ve also taken to getting Katie to take my photos, and its made such a difference with the look but also the momentum of posting frequently.
But other than writing and posting photos, its opens doors to more opportunities the Anderz way. Im not going to give anything away just now, but there are other avenues out there that I want pursue and I want it all here in one place.
